Mientras que el coronavirus sigue avanzando por el mundo, aumenta la cantidad de contagiados y víctimas mortales.

Uno de los rubros más afectados en esta  pandemia es el personal de salud, que está en contacto directo con los enfermos, ellos son indispensables para esta lucha, se trata de profesionales que se exponen día tras día para ayudar a quienes los necesitan, demostrando lo valiosos que son en la sociedad y  el coraje que tienen ante esta emergencia mundial.

Los doctores, enfermeras, personal de limpieza y demás también tienen familia, también desean llegar a sus casas sanos y salvos, también son seres humanos que sufren al ver la realidad,  son los héroes de estos tiempos.

Por ello, tienen altas probabilidades de infectarse.  Sin embargo, no pueden parar, pues hay vidas que dependen de ellos. Este es el caso de Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong, una enfermera de 28 años, quien laboró por cinco años en el Hospital Universitario Luton y Dunstable, situado al norte de Londres,  y lamentablemente murió este domingo tras contraer coronavirus.

La mujer estaba embarazada, y a pesar de no resistir,  su hijo logró sobrevivir, fue salvado por los médicos. Es un bebé que llegó a este mundo en un momento caótico y no conocerá a su madre. Pero sentirá orgullo al saber que esa enfermera fue una de las heroínas que no abandonó sus funciones cuando el mundo más la necesitaba.

“Con suma tristeza puedo confirmarles la muerte de una de nuestras enfermeras, Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong, quien falleció el domingo”, indicó el director ejecutivo de la fundación, David Carter.

El anuncio de su muerte generó polémicas ya que  los trabajadores médicos venían reclamando la falta de equipos de protección.
